Acute Stress

Acute stress is a type of short-term stress that is typically triggered by a sudden event or situation, such as a car accident or an argument. This type of stress can cause symptoms like increased heart rate, sweating, and feeling anxious, but it usually subsides quickly once the stressful event is over.

Episodic Acute Stress

Episodic Acute Stress is a more frequent type of short-term stress that can occur when a person experiences multiple stressful situations over a short period of time. This can happen when a person is constantly rushing, worrying, or feeling overwhelmed.  This type of stress can also apply to those working in a field that constantly encounters episodes of high stress or life-threatening situations like first responders. Symptoms of episodic acute stress may include tension headaches, muscle aches, and difficulty sleeping.

Chronic Stress

Chronic Stress is a type of long-term stress that can be caused by ongoing or persistent stressors, such as financial problems,  relationship issues or chronic health problems. Chronic stress may eventually lead to significant health problems.  Symptoms of chronic stress may include fatigue, irritability, and difficulty concentrating.
