About Transpiration Havening
Transpirational Havening (TH) is a technique used to help people deal with their underlined emotional states. The name “Transpirational Havening” comes from the way it works, which is similar to how trees move water through their trunks and leaves. Similar to how water travels through a tree, TH works by bringing up negative feelings from the person’s brain and releasing them through speaking, humming and physical touch.
This technique is especially helpful for people who have built up negative emotions without a specific event or situation causing them. An individual works on the difficult emotions that are present in the moment. TH does not require a person to understand where these emotions have stemmed from.
A person is asked to speak out loud repeatedly for several minutes the emotion they are feeling, for example: Angry, saddened, guilty whilst being soothed with physical touch and sometimes humming. This is practiced until the person notices a shift in how they feel.
TH can be a useful tool for individuals looking to manage their emotions and improve their overall well-being in the comfort of their own home.
Event Havening
Please refrain from practicing the Event self-Havening Technique alone if you have serious trauma, or you have psychological disorders such as PTSD or C-PTSD. It can be overwhelming for a person’s nervous system to address such an event alone. It can potentially cause flooding and severe overwhelm for individuals with serious trauma (if not guided and supported by a professional).
We recommend seeking assistance from a certified mental health care provider proficient in the Havening Technique for severe trauma or psychological disorders.

What Is Event Havening?
Event Havening is a body-based therapy aimed at reducing the impact of specific negative events or experiences that individuals have encountered. By acknowledging the event and its potential effect on the nervous system, along with accepting these feelings and gradually processing one’s emotions and sensations, Event Havening helps individuals find relief.
To practice Event Havening effectively, start by identifying the negative event or experience causing distress. Then, find a comfortable position and focus on the event or experience while engaging in the Self Havening technique. This involves rubbing your hands together and placing them on your forehead, temples, and the sides of your face while taking slow, deep breaths. Continue this technique for several minutes while keeping your attention on the negative event or experience.
The Science Of Havening
What Can I Expect To Feel During, Or After, A Body Centered Therapy Session?
These body centered therapies engage various techniques to stimulate the body's natural healing responses to facilitate an emotional release. As a result, individuals may experience a range of physical and emotional responses during and after sessions.
PHYSICAL RESPONSES
Yawning and Sighs:
Yawning and sighing are common physical responses during body centered therapeutic sessions. These actions often indicate the release of tension and pent-up emotions from the body. Yawning can signal the nervous system's shift from a state of stress to a more relaxed state.
Tingling Sensations:
Some individuals might report experiencing tingling sensations or a feeling of energy moving through different parts of their body. This is often seen as a positive sign of energy flow being restored to areas that were previously blocked.
Crying:
Tears are a natural way for the body to release emotional distress. During these therapies, individuals might find themselves crying as they release suppressed emotions, allowing for emotional catharsis.
EMOTIONAL RESPONSES
Catharsis:
Individuals may experience a sense of emotional release or catharsis, where they let go of emotions that have been held within their bodies. This can lead to feelings of relief, lightness, and emotional clarity.
Peacefulness:
As buried emotions are processed and released, individuals often report feeling a sense of inner peace and calm. This is a result of the reduction in emotional burdens that have been carried for a long time.
Heightened Awareness:
Body centered therapies can lead to increased self-awareness as individuals become more attuned to their bodily sensations and emotional responses. This awareness can promote a deeper understanding of oneself and one's triggers.
Shift in Perspective:
Engaging with body centered therapies can sometimes lead to a shift in perspective, allowing individuals to reframe their experiences and develop healthier coping mechanisms.
Conclusion:
Undertaking body centered therapies like Havening, EFT, and Instinctual Self Soothing can bring about transformative changes on both emotional and physical levels. As mentioned, the responses range from yawning, sighing to tears and peacefulness. All of these responses are indicative of the profound impact these therapies can have. As with any therapeutic approach, individual experiences may vary, but the overarching goal remains the same: to achieve a healthier, more balanced state of being by harmonizing the mind and body.
